(III) Software Issues
1-Image Dot Matrix Issues
1 What tool should I use for dot matrix?
Dot matrix is the process of generating an image array. Replace the array in the code to display the image you want.
(1) For Windows: Use Image2Lcd (registration code: 0000-0000-0000-0000-6A3B).
(2) Use our ImageToEpd for one‑click generation (supports 3-color in one step).
(3) Online: Use web tool.
2 How to avoid manual dot matrix?
Use a font chip. Characters are pre‑processed; you only need to call them directly.
3 What are the font dot matrix resolution requirements?
Width is flexible; height must be divisible by 8.
4 Can three-color e-paper be generated once?
Yes, ImageToEpd supports one‑step generation for three-color e-paper.
5 7.3-inch 7-color e-paper dot matrix method
Select 256 colors to include all 7 colors: black, white, red, yellow, blue, orange, green.
6 4-color e-paper dot matrix method
Select 4 grayscale and "scan from right to left".
7 How to generate dot matrix for 4 grayscale?
Use vertical scan; 4.2-inch and above use horizontal scan. Output: 4 grayscale.
8 7.3-inch 7-color dot matrix details
Horizontal scan, output 256 colors.
9 How to design images for 7-color e-paper?
Use colors from Windows Paint or Photoshop. 7 colors: B/W/R/Y/B/O/G.
2-Program Issues
1 UC series stuck at BUSY during init.
Comment out the 0x71 command. If still stuck, replace BUSY check with delay.
2 Keil compile or download issues?
Q1: Cannot compile demo? Check Keil and J-link driver.
Q2: Keil4 project in Keil5 error? Recompile in Keil5 before download.
Q3: Still shows old image? Recompile & download again.
3 How to write e-paper driver?
Follow the driver flow chart and command table in the datasheet.
4 Can I remove delay between refreshes?
Yes. The delay is only for observation; use BUSY function for real waiting.
5 How to change refresh speed?
SPI: adjust PLL. Parallel: update waveform file.
6 Horizontal lines after changing PLL?
Too high frequency may damage the film, causing lines.
7 No display after deep sleep?
Re‑initialize the e-paper after waking from deep sleep.
8 No display when switching partial → full refresh?
Add the full‑refresh initialization function when switching modes.
9 Where is display data stored?
Internal RAM. Registers: UC 0x10/0x13, SSD 0x24/0x26.
10 Does DEMO board support Linux porting?
Yes, but no parallel Linux tutorial yet. Refer to MCU porting logic.
11 Does DEMO support GCC?
No. DESPI: Keil. Arduino/ESP32/ESP8266: Arduino IDE.
12 Speed up 1.02-inch full refresh?
Use external waveform and adjust PLL.
13 UC8151C to UC8151D compatibility?
Add resolution setting in init code for compatibility.
14 How to store images in external FLASH?
Use a dedicated programmer to write image data.
15 Arduino read image from ROM?
Use pgm_read_byte() for array in flash.
16 Does BUSY affect sleep current?
Floating / pull‑up: no effect. Pull‑down: ~80 μA extra current.
17 Difference between fast refresh & partial full?
Fast refresh: full refresh with flicker. Partial full: partial refresh, no flicker.
18 Parallel e-paper VCOM setting?
Use value printed on FPC (usually around -2.0V).
19 SSD continuous partial refresh abnormal?
Add reset and border latch function in partial code.
20 Sleep after partial refresh?
Not required. If sleeping, re‑initialize before next partial refresh.
21 BUSY state during command?
IC is busy during command receive and refresh.
22 Overlap in partial refresh?
Send all data at once, then call Update once.
23 Why delay after 0x02 on 8151D?
Slow discharge. Delay ≥100ms to avoid gray back.
